The Baggage Project was created by Jessica Row, one of our phenomenal 2high Festival 2011 artists.
The project has been running for some time now, and we’re lucky enough to be sharing the baggage of other’s all together at 2high this year!
What’s the project all about, though?
According to the dictionary, baggage (aside from being a form of luggage) is: Something that encumbers one’s freedom, progress, development, or adaptability. An intellectual or emotional impediment.
For my latest art project I seek to give these invisible burdens visible identities…. my hope is that this ongoing project will demonstrate to all involved that we are not alone, that our baggage is shared by all of humanity, and that this knowledge might just make our own baggage a little bit easier to carry.
If you find one of these sweet bag tags around the city (i found one at the Judith Wrights Centre) be sure to send it in to Row’s tumblr (link above)
